PEM cell costs can be up to 30% lower than the industry average—Xingran Technology’s 200 Nm³/h PEM electrolyzer production line is now operational.
In response to the nation’s major strategic goals of reaching peak carbon emissions by 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2060, and to promote the consumption and utilization of renewable energy, Jiangsu Xingran Technology has actively invested in the research and development and production of PEM water electrolysis hydrogen production equipment. Currently, Xingran has established the capability to produce MW-scale PEM electrolyzers, with each unit capable of generating up to 200 Nm³/h of hydrogen. Through technological cost reductions and economies of scale, the company’s equipment manufacturing costs are now below 30% of the industry average, laying a solid technological and equipment foundation for the realization of affordable green hydrogen.

Recently, Jiangsu Xingran Technology Co., Ltd. (referred to as Xingran Technology) successfully obtained certification as a high-tech enterprise and received the “High-Tech Enterprise” certificate jointly issued by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Science and Technology, the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Finance, and the Jiangsu Provincial Tax Bureau of the State Administration of Taxation. The certificate number is GR202332001706, officially marking its entry into the ranks of high-tech enterprises.

The cost of PEM hydrogen production has dropped significantly! Xingran Technology’s cost-reduction pathway for PEM water electrolysis hydrogen production.
Hydrogen production via water electrolysis is an important method for generating hydrogen energy, which involves splitting water into hydrogen and oxygen. Among various technologies, hydrogen production using PEM (Proton Exchange Membrane) electrolysis boasts advantages such as high efficiency, low energy consumption, and zero pollution, making it highly promising for applications in the hydrogen energy sector. However, current PEM water electrolysis technology still faces certain challenges, such as relatively high costs. Therefore, reducing the cost of the hydrogen-producing membrane-electrode assembly is crucial for enhancing the competitiveness of PEM water electrolysis technology.

Xingran Technology’s hydrogen production equipment project, with a total investment of 500 million yuan, has been established in Changzhou, with an annual output value of 5 billion yuan.
On March 13, 2024, the PEM water electrolysis hydrogen production equipment project of Xingran Technology was officially signed and established in the Changzhou Wujin National-level Industrial Park in Jiangsu Province. The project is invested in by Jiangsu Xingran Technology Corporation to its Changzhou branch, with a total investment amount of 500 million yuan, of which approximately 200 million yuan will be allocated to fixed assets.
Innovative Aspects of Xingran’s PEM Water Electrolysis Hydrogen Production
Suzhou Xingran Technology Co., Ltd. was established in 2021 and is an innovative technology enterprise specializing in the R&D, production, and sales of hydrogen-generation equipment via water electrolysis. In 2015, the company’s founder set up a hydrogen energy research studio in Guangdong, aiming to achieve in-depth development of PEM electrolyzers and hydrogen fuel cells. The studio specifically hired foreign experts to focus on the R&D of membrane electrodes, and in 2021, the studio made a significant breakthrough in the development of perfluorosulfonic acid proton exchange membranes.
